Housekeeping - June, 2021

It’s been a while since I’ve shared some site news. So, why don’t we take a quick peek behind the curtain?

The State of the Plain Text Project

A few readers have noticed that I don't post quite as frequently to the site as I may have in past years. Some have contacted me, wondering if everything is OK.

I appreciate the concern. But let me reassure you: all is good. It's true I haven't been publishing as many articles in this space as I did, say, last year or in 2019. That's not because I don't have ideas — I have too many ideas. Things at the Home Firm have been busy of late — not just with The Day JobTM, but also with my other projects and with a bit of freelance writing that I've been doing over the last little while.

There are a number of articles queued up and ready to go in the coming months. And I'm working on ideas for 2022. So, don't worry: the Plain Text Project will be around for a little while longer!

Third Edition of Learning Markdown Coming Soon

About a month ago, an idea grabbed me and just wouldn't let go. For me, that's a sign that I need to go with the idea. What is it? An update to my book Learning Markdown.

It's not going to be a huge update — a new chapter, reworking of other chapters, and changes to the list of resources. I'm hoping to have the new edition ready by the middle of July, 2021.

If you've bought a copy of Learning Markdown, 1) thank you, and 2) you'll be getting an email with a link to download the third edition of the book. An edition which is free — I don't feel comfortable having people pay twice (or more) for something that they bought from me.

That’s it for this update. We’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming soon.
