Housekeeping - June, 2020

It’s been a while since I’ve shared some site news. So, why don’t we take a quick peek behind the curtain?

Interview Series

I’m always looking for people to chat with as part of Eight Questions for …. I don’t care what your technical chops are (or aren’t). I don’t care where you’re from or what you do. If you use plain text, you probably have a story to tell. So why not share it with the folks who read this site?

If you are interested in being interviewed, get in touch. Just remember to select Interview me! from the Why You’re Contact Me list on the form. I’m looking forward to talking to you.

Second Edition of Learning Markdown is Out

You might have seen the announcement. If you haven’t, then I’m happy to let you know that I recently published the second edition of Learning Markdown. The book contains quite a bit of new information and some reworking of what was in the previous edition.

Changes to the Site

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I call the DIY web lately. And I’ve been thinking about how The Plain Text Project fits into that idea.

So, I’m seriously considering moving away from using Jekyll to generate the site and replacing it with a site built with only HTML and CSS. While I’ve started experimenting, there’s no guarantee the move will happen. If it does, you’ll notice a change or two in this space.

RSS Feed Disabled

The RSS feed is working again. You can find a link under the About menu at the top of the page. You can also find the feed here:

https://plaintextproject.online/feed.xml

The RSS feed has been pretty balky lately. So, I’ve disabled it until I can find a fix. Well, it will be disabled once this article is published …

I’m not sure when I’ll be able to look into fixing the feed— at the moment, my time is very limited. Whenever that happens, I’ll let you know. Until then, check the Articles page every week or two for updates.

That’s it for this update. We’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming soon.
