Housekeeping - October, 2019

It’s been a little over two months since I last gave you a peek behind the curtain here at The Plain Text Project. You’re overdue for another update, so here it is.

Site Updates

I’ve made a couple of small changes to the site:

Merchandise

Thanks to everyone who responded to August’s poll about whether or not I should start selling Plain Text Project merchandise. The response was quite positive, and I’m going to move forward. I also got a few ideas from readers which I’m seriously going to consider.

Don’t expect much movement on this until 2020. Right now, I’m saving up a few bob to engage a graphic designer and for startup costs. But when everything’s ready to go, I’m planning on holding a small giveaway.

I’ll keep you updated on the progress of this idea.

Social Media

As you might know, I don’t do social media anymore. Several reasons for that, a few of which I explain in this essay. That said, I know that a number of people who read The Plain Text Project are active, to varying degrees, on various social media platforms.

If you’re one of those folks, I’d appreciate it if you could share articles that you’ve enjoyed or found useful on your preferred platform(s). And please use the hashtags #plaintext or #plaintextproject if you decide to post.

Thanks!

Interview Series

You might have noticed a couple of new interviews that I published recently. I’m always looking to chat with folks who use plain text, regardless of what they do or their level of technical ability. If you’re interesting in being interviewed, get in touch.

That’s it for this update. We’ll be back to our regularly-schedule programming soon.
